Vito Mannone

Vito is the Arsenal Reserves number one keeper, signed from Atalanta in the summer of 2005, he was quickly thrown into the limelight with a pre-season match against Barnet.
The first half of the 2006/07 season was spent on loan at Barnsley, he started life as Number 2, however an injury then gave Vito the chance to become the number 1, but a series of errors and then a injury ended his stay with the “Tykes” and he returned to the club, doing what he did best, shining for the Reserves.
This season he has been involved with the first team more, he has been named on the bench for every Carling Cup match as cover for summer signing Lukasz Fabianski, and has caught the attention of manager Arsene Wenger who rewarded him with a brand new 4 year contract in December 2007.
Tall, agile, and an excellent shot stopper, Mannone’s leadership has helped the younger and inexperienced defenders in front of him, the signing of the new contract shows Vito is very much in Arsene’s plans for the future, he is still young and has aspects to work on, but things look very good for Vito.
