Rhema Obed

Rugged right back Rhema Obed came through the Hale End Academy and is currently in the second year of his scholarship.

Obed had his break through season last year, making 18 starts and establishing himself as Steve Bould’s first choice in a historic campaign for the Academy side. But it’s not just right back where he’s excelled – he’s also featured at centre half and in the centre of midfield – but mainly when he was a schoolboy.

Injuries curtailed his end to the season but there was evidence that he is worthy of a professional deal. His willingness to get forward and excellent positional sense were key assets. He also stood his ground when faced with taller and stronger opposition and won some fantastic battles down the right hand side.

Rhema is a solid and dependable player. Blessed with power and pace, he’ll hope to kick on into the Reserves next term, something he experienced briefly last year.
