29. Carlos Vela

Arsenal signed Carlos Vela from Mexican side Guadalajara aged just 16 after he starred in the Under 17s World Cup in Peru in 2005.
He was then a poacher, who came alive in the box, great in the air with a knack of finding the space, due to visa issues, he was loaned, firstly to Celta Vigo in January 2006 but didnt make an appearance, Vela was due to spend last term with Celta, but after they registered too many foreign players, Carlos was told he would have to leave, a furious Arsenal cancelled there partnership and loaned him to another link club Salamanca.
He bagged 8 goals plus loads of assists and becoming a huge fans favourite, but Arsenal decided to give him some experience at a higher level, and a deal was announced that he would spend the 2007-2008 season on loan at Osasuna, where he would get his visa and be able to return to Arsenal ready for the 08-09 season.
Osasuna have been using Vela as a left striker in a 4-3-3, full of pace, power and tricks, he looks a complete different player from the lightweight youngster we signed in 2005.
Young Guns will be reporting weekly on Carlos’s progress.

hes been given the number 12 shirt, its been confirmed today
do you guys think he will make it to the first team this year? ass a regular
Interesting to see that AW asked the Spanish side he was on loan at, to play him as a left winger. He obviously wanted to see how he did there in competitive games. With “Glassman” Rosicky still a way from fitness, he may find himself involved on the left quite quickly.
Best role is as a central striker. Reminds me most of a young Saviola before he went to Barca and got ruined.
VELA HAS OFFIACALY GOT THE NUMBER 12
Hi, I’m from Spain. I’m from Salamanca. We have great regards about him.
Is he going to play with first team next season?
I think he has enough skills to play with the first team.
