Benik Afobe
Benik was first introduced to fans on the previous version of this blog, and we will of course be keeping you up to date with his progress.
An out and out striker, Benik is top scorer for the Under 16s with a strike rate of a goal a game. Pacy, strong and an excellent finisher, Afobe is a tricky, powerful striker and is also superb in the air.
Out of the very top draw of the latest crop of Academy talent, next season will see the youngster take part in the Under 18s Academy League, where he should take heart from Jack Wilshere and Rhys Murphy. Both scored goals for Steve Bould’s side despite being school boys
Benik is of Congo descent, but was born in England and will look to push on next season for a place in Kenny Swains’s England Youth team.
