Teams – Arsenal V Burnley – Rodgers & Bendtner Start

The Arsenal team has been confirmed for tonight’s Carling Cup quarter-final clash against Burnley. Arsène Wenger has made three changes to the team that beat Wigan Athletic in the last round, with Paul Rodgers replacing Johan Djourou, Mikaël Silvestre in for Alex Song, and Nicklas Bendtner forcing Jay Simpson to the bench.
Interestingly, Rodgers has recently failed to win contracts with both Watford and Nottingham Forest during trials, yet injuries have presented him with an opportunity to prove his worth.
Young Guns Player Of The Month Amaury Bischoff will feature at some stage, but starts on the bench alongside four English men – Rene Steer, Emmanuel Frimpong, Henri Lansbury and Jay Simspson
Fabianski (c)
Rodgers – Hoyte – Silvestre – Gibbs
Wilshere – Ramsey – Randall – Mérida
Bendtner – Vela
Subs – Mannone, Steer, Coquelin, Frimpong, Lansbury, Bischoff, Simpson

Not playing that well at the moment.
Burnley are keeping Arsenal’s full backs pinned back at the moment.

thats wot i want to see merida do more….stay far on the wing, and den dribbile his way forward…not to cut in all the time like nasri..
im backing merida to become a similar player to david silva

Bendtner has had a shocker.
Supposed to be a senior player too.
dooop23 said this on December 2, 2008 at 9:16 pm
i really hope bendtner is not the future of arsenal…
i dnt mind him being a back up player, like how john oshea is at man utd….but defo not starter

argh there comes the bendtner hate wagon again xd.. tbh he did great in his runs and first touch but the finishing was bad and unlucky, he did make some good passes and kept the ball well.. just wasnt his evening
. as for the rest of the team.. well not much to say, all pretty much did the same as bendtner.. good runs good passes good control but couldnt score.
just my 2 cents..
ARSENAAAAAAAAAAL

ok rodgers was inexperienced, bendtner is leaving in my eyes, the pitch was poor, vela was poor sorry bt we hve 2 admit it, wilshere was average, ramsey average, merida looked our best player, between merida n wilshere

Sanity. I take you all that was sarcastic you can’t really think his first touch was good and that he kept the ball well and was unlucky.. He was shocking at it all again and more to the point even when he plays terrible he seems to have the attitude that he doesn’t give a toss.
