Arsenal Tracking Juventus Youngster Giovinco

Arsenal are believed to be tracking Juventus starlet Sebastian Giovinco with a potential bid being lined up to the 21 year old contract rebel.
Giovinco has emerged as one of the most exciting young talents in Europe after a hugely successful season on loan at Empoli, in which he bagged six goals in 35 appearances. His stunning free-kick equaliser against Roma caught the eye, and even though he is only 1.64cm, he is nicknamed the “Little Giant”.
Naturally after an excellent season on loan, Juventus are keen to promote him to their first team next year, but a dispute over a new deal has seen Arsenal amongst other show a reported interest. Juve’s transfer director Alessio Secco is only willing to offer an extra €500,000 per year, while Giovinco and his agent believe he his potential is worth investing in.
Manchester United and Chelsea are the other club’s that have been mentioned, but the players representative has claimed he was “confident” over a new deal, meaning it seemed the matter would be closed.
However, fans of the Old Lady have been worried in recent weeks with news that Secco would be willing to negotiate his transfer, and that Palmero had made tentative inquires. Sebastian has represented Italy at every single level, although he is yet to make his full debut.
He also won the Player Of The Tournament award in the recent Toulon festival, a competition which Arsenal frequently scout. Juventus have shown an interest in Arsenal’s Spanish play-maker Fran Merida, a potential replacement if Giovinco was to leave.
Arsène Wenger will no doubt take heart from the excellent performances from several of his young stars during the 2-1 win against Barnet, but if the price was right, Sebastian could end up at the Emirates next season.

What position does he play in? 6 goals in 35 app. is good, but not great, it seems.

i don’t think this will happen as secco is banned from doing any transfers, so its HIGLEY unlikely.
gooner2009 said this on July 19, 2008 at 6:51 pm
juventus wont sell him i m 99% sure, i know few juve fans, they are dying to see him back, but we can sign his younger brother
kamal said this on July 19, 2008 at 6:53 pm
looks like a top talent but arsenal need older more exprienced players as there are only 4 players that are above the age of 25 which isnt that good for any team
J could you give us a sort of list of the brightest youth prospects in england, britian ,europe or even the world so that we can see how special some of our players are in relation to the worlds best

Trouble is if J worked for M15 he would have lost all the info before we got to see it !

Would be a great aquisition but would be difficult to go ahead if a bidding war starts for him. I would like to see an experienced player come in and help some of our younger players this season but there doesnt seem to be many around which would be available foor transfer. Im surprised we havent heard more about Aquilani now he seems on the verge of leaving Roma.

this has been known for a long time. And arsenal arent the only club interested in the player. everyone wants this huge “little” talent but i really think that this is not gonna happen. Giovinco has stated that his dream is to be with juve and play alongside his hero del piero, and secco and gigli wouldn’t let this happend. sorry arsenal fans

1. J, I thought you stopped people advertising their own sites on here. At least people with new blogs are humble, soccerfanbase obviously doesn’t care about anything other than shameless promotion.
2. This is a non-starting rumour, he wants to stay at Juve, it’s just agent bullshit.
3. Does anyone know a website that can show a comprehensive list of transfers that have happened across Europe this summer? It would be very, very helpful and I’d be so grateful if anyone knew of such a place.

Yeah, I know how to check what is regularly going on in the market (i use newsnow) but to decifer the hearsay from who has actually gone where is what I need, prefreably for all of the big European leagues. My friend is trying to start up his own pan-European fntasy football scheme but for it to work we need to find out who actually plays for who. A comprehensive list of transfers would make his life a lot easier than having to go through the wikipedia pages and official websites of every club.
(It’s kind of a good idea he’s got going actually, like a rubbish version of fm live/fantasy football. He’s gonna try it this season just beaten his mates to see if it works out/software works and all that shebang and aim to have a proper website and whatnot going next season.)

Well if this guy comes he would be a second signing… We’re signing an established player first
I hope it’s going to be Senna, I don’t like to see Barry or Frings. Seedorf or Yaya Touré could still come our way. If there’s a possibility in signing Toulalan that would be great too. Anyway I want the signing to be a good passer. Maybe Albelda?!! What do you think peepz?!!

Giovinco was outstanding at the Toulon festival when i saw him play. Dnt think it’ll happen thou, interest is 99% certain to be true, but i doubt very much hes a player truely up for grabs.
Id like Yaya or Seedorf, Senna is a good player aswell, Frigs is starting to decline badly, doesnt look anything like the player of two seasons back, Toulalan is flawed.

I don’t see this happening really. It looks like one of those made up rumours sadly. There is no qoute or anything. Nothing solid to go on. That said, I would very much love to have him with us.
He is by far a quality youngster and our Merida can’t compare to him, sadly. J.Sanderson, do you see this signing happening for us?
Anyways, nice article as always. Love your stuff.

He’s small but didn’t Spain have a smallish midfield.
Compare: Spain- Iniesta – Xavi – Senna – Silva
Fabregas
Potential Arsenal- Ramsey – Fabregas- Diaby – Nasri
Rosicky
