Nasri Has Pre-Contract Agreement To Join Arsenal

Contrary to reports in the media yesterday, the chances of Samir Nasri joining Atlético Madrid this summer remain extremely slim, as the player has already signed a pre-contract agreement to join Arsenal following the completion of France’s European Championship campaign.
A deal was negotiated with Marseille for Nasri last month, with the Gunners activating his €15 million buy out clause. However, all the formalities were not completed in time, as Samir was involved with the French squad for Euro 2008, which has since seen the deal delayed.
The news of Atlético’s apparent interest, was broken by unreliable Spanish paper “Marca“, but shortly after this emerged, Marseille based news wire La Provence, which first broke Arsenal’s interest in Nasri, confirmed he has signed a pre-contract and will move after Euro 2008.
The reports claimed Madrid were readying an offer to beat the one which was offered by Arsène Wenger, but as the agreement is already in place with the Gunners, it would set up a difficult legal battle should he try and break off the imminent transfer.
Obviously the media are unhappy with Arsenal buying top players, and desperate to try and upset fans by claiming the potential deal could be in doubt. Whilst it is frustrating waiting for the signing to be announced, when your paying top money for a player like we are, it’s important to make sure every little detail is sorted out correctly. That’s why there has been a delay, not because it has fallen through.
Samir Nasri and his French side are in action this evening against Robin van Persie’s Holland, needing the win to keep alive their chances in the tournament. Should the Dutch come out winners tonight, then Nasri’s switch to Arsenal could be completed early if France are eliminated.

Thats great news about Nasri amd shows that we are not being priced out of all our possible targets as the media keep reporting. How many more players can you see coming to Arsenal this transfer window and how many do you think we will lose from the 1st team?

Wenger said he didnt want anybody to leave, and i cant see many leaving. Possibly Traore, Song out on loan.
Nasri + Ramsey and maybe another in
J.Sanderson said this on June 13, 2008 at 10:58 am
Do you believe Hleb will stay? We have never heard directly from him that he wants to leave Arsenal and I think he only really wanted to leave for Milan, possibly because him and Flamini are very close. Thanks for the reply and keep up the good work!
SebCesc said this on June 13, 2008 at 11:00 am
I would say he would leave, i think his position in the team is now under threat, and Nasri seems like the replacement for him.
I dont think he can stay after everything that has happened.

J whats happening with adebayor, this story about him agreeing seems to have some truth in it
philiip said this on June 13, 2008 at 11:02 am
Yes please bring more quality. Nasri looks a great player and Ramsey is definately one for the future. This will surely bring more depth to the squad. All we need now is a CB cover for Gallas and Toure, someone who can give them competition for places.
Boruc from Celtic looks a class keeper.
Eskiboi01 said this on June 13, 2008 at 11:02 am
Phillip – how does it have truth? its just that a rumour started.. and now everybody covers it. Just because more people pick it up.. does not make it true.
I dont think he will leave personally.
J.Sanderson said this on June 13, 2008 at 11:03 am
Splendid news indeed. Hopefully Domenech might freshen things up in the French side tonight after their dreadfully inept display against Romania. Considering the plethora of talent he has available to him, I cannot possibly even begin to comprehend his decision to pick Florent Malouda. Would be nice if we got to see more of Nasri, but I can only envisage Domenech playing safe (Diarra should be playing ahead of Makelele too). That said, I hope Holland win, because the quicker we tie up the Nasri Deal, the better.
I also can’t help but think we really missed out when Spurs signed Luka Modric. Have watched him a number of times now and he looks the perfect Arsenal type. Like a mix between Rosicky, Hleb and even the faintest resemblance, passing wise, to Fabregas. £16 million may have been steep, but he is one hell of a player. Shame for spurs that theyre losing Berbatov.
Super Duper Gang, Super Duper.

Adebayor will still be a win situation for us. If he stays then thats good coz hes an immense player. If he leaves we’ll get good money for him. Bendtner looks like hes finding his feet and if Ade leaves then Bendtner can step up.

Milan know exactly how to stir things to try and land what they want. I wouldnt pay much attention to what Galliani says and who he wants, he’s linking himself with every top striker in Europe so he doesnt pay inflated prices. Milan not being in the Champions League next season is going to affect them financially and no way are they going to buy Drogba, Eto and Ade and Drogba wants to leave Chelsea. Also the rumours help Adebayors agent who is trying to negotiate a new deal with Arsenal at the moment. Dont believe the hype!!
SebCesc said this on June 13, 2008 at 11:07 am
Eskiboi01 & Neb is not a win situation, There are 2 effective striker/forward in the world & the are Drogba & Ade. How can Bendtner get behind defensive back lines when he doesnt have pace however he will be a good backup striker.
Supergunner07 said this on June 13, 2008 at 11:10 am
I think it’s just Ade’s agent causing trouble, Drogba would be a much simpler signing for Milan and i think that will end up going through. If Ade does go, I know Roque Santa Cruz is a good player but he doesn’t strike me as a suitable replacement.
JS, what positions do you think Nasri and Ramsey will fill in the squad, both either flank? Or possibly central?
TopGunPires said this on June 13, 2008 at 11:11 am
As Wenger has already stated that he wont be buyign a defender. What do you think the chances of us that we will buy a player to replace Flamini? Or do you think he’ll go with Diaby Gilberto or Denilson? If we do buy who would you think would be a realistic target?

Beautifully skillful, eye for a pass and goal.
Simular to Pires at 21, which is Turans age.
He played class against L’pool and done well in Euros.
Have you any info on him and what do you think of him.
On Ade, I think Ade will stay this season however if he doesnt sign a new deal now then we are aswell to sell him for £30 million now as for £15 next season if he wont sign a new deal.
Hope RVP and Rock do well this season as I see this as RVP s last season unless he produces the goods

J, take it from me. For a contract to be legally binding you must demonstrate consideration.
That means one of the parties must have bought something to the table to demonstrate intent. I.E. He accepted a nominal fee or something along those lines.
A pre-contract is worth zip.

Only 2 effective strikers Ade and Drogba! What rubbish!
Let me see so by your reckoning, Villa is not as good and neither is the list below!
Jan Huntelaar (or however you spell it)
Ibrahimovic (Inter – Fantastic player)
Benzema (wanted by everyone and not for no reason)
Torres (need i say more)
Podolski
These are just a few and ok we wouldn’t get some of them but this is just to prove my point that Drogba and Ade aren’t just the only 2!
Grat news bout Nasri by the way!

With Nasri and Ramsey apparently done deals, we have the 1 creative player that Wenger was talking about, plus Hleb’s replacement (if he leaves). Due to the amount of time the Hleb Barca deal is taking, I wouldn’t be surprised if Yaya was part of the deal .Don’t be fooled by what Barca say about Yaya, it’s an attempt to secure a straight swap without any cash. Our hand is very strong in this deal: Hleb is under contract and Yaya has said he wants to come to us. I’d be over the moon with a deal that saw Hleb go there and Yaya to us, £5m on top would give me a wet dream.lol

My friend Sebastien’s father is a major shareholder at Marseille. I recently posted a comment on gooner talk which explained the Nasri story so far in relation to his transfer activity. I can post it here if you like.
Angelo said this on June 13, 2008 at 4:20 pm
Here it is, for whoever is interested.
It’s all true. The only way it can possibly be inaccurate is if Sebastien is lying…which I severely doubt.
I’ve asked one of my friends from Marseille, who’s father is a shareholder at the club, to fill me in on Nasri’s situation. Basically….Lyon were the first team to make an offer (Ben Arfa was part of the deal). Marseille wanted to accept but after consulting Nasri’s agent saw no point as Nasri would only move abroad. Inter made an inquiry soon after but the situation was uncertain due to continuing talks with Hleb’s agent and the unstable managerial position, so nothing concrete. Then Arsenal began talks and sorted everything out relatively quickly.
Get this though, Nasri’s agent actually told Papa Diouf to attempt to delay giving Arsenal permission to speak to Nasri and wait for more offers to fall on the table.
What I gather now from this is that Nasri has been told to keep his head down and perform well whenever given an opportunity in the Euros. More teams come in, creating competitive wage offers from various interested clubs considering the fee with Marseille is fixed.
All the while he has got the formalities sorted with Arsenal so that if the Euros don’t go so well he can quickly fall back on that.

We’re all fools aren’t we? Nasri may only sign for us if there is nothing better on the table. We supporters follow our teams with our hearts – I even named my little boy after TH14 – but players mostly jusr follow the money. Same as it ever was since the big money got involved and agents got greedy. Nasri will probably sign after tonight’s result v. RVP’s Holland. Nasri will probably kiss the badge next season too. But if and when the really big bucks are thrown at him (after Arsene has improved him 75%) he’ll do a Hleb or a Flamini or an Ade.
Actually, that maybe unfair on Hleb and Ade as neither has said they want to leave and in fact Ade has said he wants to stay. But their money grabbing agents are trying everything to get a bigger slice of the action this close season.
So, we’re all fools aren’t we? The agents will mostly influence who comes and goes. It’s noty for the love of the club.
Maybe, just maybe, Ramsey will be different!

Nasri’s Family ‘Deny’ Madrid Contact June 14, 2008
Posted by Gooner Chris in Arsenal News.
According to Marseille daily La Provence, Samir Nasri’s family have ‘denied’ any contact with La Liga side Atletico Madrid and expect the Frenchman to join Arsenal after Euro 2008.
The 20-year-old has been subject of an ongoing transfer battle supposedly between Spaniards Atletico and North London giants Arsenal.
Just weeks ago, Nasri was expected to put pen to paper and sign a 4-year contract with the Gunners. But Arséne Wenger later announced that the Marseille midfielder would sign after the European Championships.
