Arsenal Have Not Signed Nikolay Dimitrov FFS !
After various comments over the past three days, i will inform you Arsenal !! HAVE NOT !! signed Levski Sofia’s Bulgarian International Winger Nikolay Dimitrov.
One blog, called Arsenal Gunz completed fabricated the story along with quotes. The blog has already deleted several articles which people complained about including an article which said we had signed Ricardo Quaresma, and his brother.
If you want to go on look on the blog, you only need 1% of intelligence to see the sources are not only non existent, but also complete bullshit. The quotes are made up, no links are provided. The links or sources claimed either do not exist or have no knowledge of the stories.
Nikolay Dimitrov came on a short trial around December time, he impressed but the manager thought he would not be able to cope with English football. Plus the emergence of Carlos Vela who is by far a better prospect meant he was NOT signed.
At this time of year newspapers, and bloggers have fuck all to write about. So they dig up shit from the past and post it up for fans to believe. Remember last summer and the whole “Palacio” thing? the Internet can be dangerous in this way.
Until its confirmed by either club or a TRUSTED source, then do not believe it. Now.. lets enjoy tonight’s Reserves game.

we need one or two big name players. for a club as big as Arsenal, we have no world class players except for Fabregas and probably Sagna. Rosicky is injured too often. Ade is inconsistent sometimes. this is the difference between champion and third place.

One of our members is a close childhood friend with Dimitrov, so he will verify but it seems to be BS. There was a fax from Arsenal to Dimitrov’s club Levski a few days ago, but that was about it so far.

While Arsenal are look set to sign left midfield Kamel Ghilas after the two clubs came to an agreement for the Versatile Algerian international.

The story is rubbish!!! I have just been on the Sofia Echo website and could not find any story about Dimitrov signing for us. Nor could I find any article from this month about him. The site has an internal search and there are articles from the time of his first trial but nothing new regarding us signing him.
However it did say we were signing Hristo Stoichkov….. Only Kidding.

I posted a while ago about the isolatioon of following the Premiership from North America, where it is not constantly in your face as it is in Britain.
One consequence of this is getting snippets here and there of stories of players you associated forever with certain teams going suddenly appearing in the strips of other teams (I think of Kevin Keegan’s defection from the Toon Army, but this is a digression, perhaps…!). Strangely these players usually seem to end up with Real Madrid…
Mind you at least I’m not French: I’m not sure how I would think about half my national team’s players playing for PSG (re: Arsenal, of course…)
But then English teams now have French and Italian managers, and even the Irish national team had (still has? there’s me in the dark again) a Geordie manager!
Anyway, maybe a Marxist would say that what we are seeing is the commodification of football players — you can buy everything else , why not them (remember the New York Cosmos?).

I have not been reading these pages for long, but I am well impressed with the shear ammount of info that the lad / lads are able to provide and seeing as they are not club insiders, it is only natural that they will get one or two things wrong from time to time – at least they are big enough to retract or correct stories.
