James Dunne Wins Contradiction Of The Week

Congratulations to Arsenal Reserves central midfielder James Dunne as he wins the award of contradiction Of The Week !.

Dunne [17], like team-mates Kieran Gibbs and Abu Ogogo, joined Arsenal from Wimbledon when there academy disbanded and became Milton-Keynes Dons and like the other two players mentioned they all got professional deals in September 2007.

James told Arsenal’s official website in the Newcastle match programme.

“Being professional means that you have to be exactly that. More is expected of a professional player than a scholar and you therefore have to step up and rise to the challenge”

Now Ive always believed and gone with the famous saying “Actions Speak Louder Than Words” , you would expect James has been working harder and cutting out the childish points from his game now he is pro like he claims in the interview, well in-fact no, in the four months he has had the pro deal he has been sent off twice.

His first red card came against Aston Villa in November just two months into his new contract, he did play rather well in truth but he went chasing a ball in the middle of the park jumped in two footed for the ball missed, and caught the man, and as Villa were appealing for James to be sent off he planted his head into one of the Villa players head’s earning him a straight red card.

Niel Banfield accepted its what young players do, they all have to make mistakes, but against Liverpool on Tuesday night he was again sent off, at a point where Arsenal were having more and more chances and could have got a goal to keep them in the Cup.

Both tackles were late and mistimed and he did deserve to be sent off.

I know it doesn’t sound like it but i don’t really hate James Dunne, he works hard for the cause and i respect that, but when you do an interview where all the fans are going to see it don’t talk shit, and don’t just say what you think people want to hear, he would have sounded more of a man if he would have said Ive made some silly mistakes but now i am looking to be more professional.

But anyway i don’t expect him to still be here next season.

  1. I’ve seen him twice and I’ve never seen a bloke commit so many fouls, trying to forge a career by making endless misguided tackles to make up for a lack of ability (physical or technical), is not something you’d expect to see at Arsenal.

  2. I think this is a bit harsh.

How many cards did Vieira get?

I think yellow and red card follow players who play in the DM role.

  3. A tad harsh. for every Cesc and Hleb there has to be a Flamini. For every Randall and Lansbury there has to be a Dunne. Don’t get me wrong, he let the club and himself down on Tuesday but I think every game, good or bad, a young player should learn from and this is a big lesson to the lot of them as they should have walked the youth cup this year. That’s my view anyway and great site btw. A welcome addition

  4. Silly. There’s more to a professional approach than trying to curb the amount of cards you get. Nobody would call Patrick Vieira childish.

  5. this is an incredibly harsh piece on a young player. I saw the second booking on tuesday and it was very very harsh especially considering he was already on a booking. most refs would have had a quiet word with him. a liverpool player did a slightly worse foul about 5 minutes later when we were away towards goal, and did not receive a booking. I think Dunne went for the ball and made no attempt to foul Amoo who was just a bit too quick for him and just got his toe to the ball before Dunne slid in.

  6. I think if you watch James on a regular basis you will see what im talking about like hboy mentioned in the earlier comment.

  7. I agree with the above comment i think your being harsh.
