Decision Close On Arsenal Trialist O’Brien

Arsenal are expected to make a decision on Goalkeeper Liam O’Brien before the end of the week.

O’Brien [16] played 90 minutes on Saturday as a young Under 18s team lost 3-2 to an impressive Ipswich side despite goals from Kyle Bartley and Emmanuel Frimpong, Young Guns Report Here.

Manchester United and Tottenham are also keen on the QPR goalie but Arsene Wenger and his coaching staff have managed to bring him in on trial, he featured last week for the Under 16s another story we broke first.

Liam is still on schoolboy terms at Loftus Road after rejecting the chance to sign a full scholarship, and could become Arsenal’s second signing from the January transfer window.

If Arsenal decide to snap him up, he would only cost a minimal in compensation, and would battle with James Shea to become the third choice keeper alongside Italian Vito Mannone and Polish young international Wojciech Szczesny.

So Whats Liam Like?

Liam is a tall [For His Age] blessed with excellent reflexes, also an excellent leader and takes time to organised his defenders on set-pieces as well as in general play.

He also has a huge kick on him, being able to launch the ball deep into the opposition’s half.

Overall he is an excellent, highly rated keeper, with James Shea failing to impress i think he would be an great buy.
